madyson – 5 years old – part l

June 10, 2010 | kids

Some photos from Madyson’s 5 year old shoot . . . one of my favorites.

Adorable . . .

Madyson likes making me laugh with her silliness . . .

I think she knows it entertains me.

And she constantly talks during our shoots . . .

and talks . . . but that is OK with me, I love to talk too.

Disclaimer : No kids were harmed or tortured in the taking of these photos . . . I promise.

Madyson sometimes tends to me a drama queen and I LOVE that about her personality.

But she can always recompose herself for the most amazing images.  Madyson, you look like a little angel here.

Part of the photo shoot consisted of Madyson & I sharing some time together, just hanging and talking.

Sometimes when I say “smile” . . . I get this reaction.  So funny!

Madyson “STRIKING A POSE” . . .

Ta Da . . .

A few more photos to come this weekend.

baby gavin : savannah baby shoot

May 30, 2010 | kids

A simple shoot to get a few photos in Gavin’s baptism outfit.  A chair. A couch.  An adorable little boy.

Laughing at sister Maddy because she was being silly.  Maddy thanks for the song & dance . . . you made me laugh too.

Hummmmm…Gavin thinking pose.

Ha ha…this look was surely to tell me to be quite.  LOL.

I just love his big ole’ eyes . . .

What cha doing???

Maddy was a big help . . . so funny how she can make him laugh.

Now this is Maddy…his sister (she is older now).  I photographed her when I was in the process of starting my photography business.  I laughed when I first saw Gavin because he looked like a clone of Maddy.  She is a little bigger now with beautiful  brown curly hair and will be striking a pose for my camera very soon.  For now, here a few photos from Maddy’s baby shoot.  When I took her photos I didn’t have a blog.  I wanted to share a few past images of Maddy because her & Gavin look like so much alike.  Maddy you are still one of my most favorite baby shoots.

Maddy and the cattails on the beach.

I love this photo because you could see her two little teeth.

Yes…she was making a weird face because I kept asking her to smile.  Madddy, you made me laugh so much this day.

There is that smile . . .

and a laugh . . .

And a favorite still was this shot as she gently reached for my camera.  There is just something I love about this image.

Thanks Kelly for allowing me to capture a part of both Maddy & Gavin.  much love.

madyson’s birthday carnival

April 26, 2010 | kidsmy life

Saturday I helped my very dear friend Anna organized a party for 5 year old kids.   Madyson’s Birthday Carnival was a huge success, even with the rain we endured.  12 kids played and never once seemed bothered by the raindrops that periodically hit them on the head.  It was a party with non-stop fun and non-stop laughter.  The kids jumped in a trampoline filled with 32 extra large bouncy balloons, they played numerous games & had fun winning prizes and getting treats.  Yes, Madyson’s Birthday Carnival was full of FUN.  I wanted to share a few photos, but I did not get permission from all the parents to post images of their kids.  I definitely would not want to upset any parents, so I am not going to post any photos of the kids.  I did get awesome pictures of them playing games, eating cupcakes and making silly faces.   But…I will share a few photos of the decorations below.

Anna ordered these super cool carnival treat boxes offline.  All the boxes were carefully packed with treats & surprises and each kid got to take one home.  I personalized them with name stickers that I made in Photoshop.

Popcorn made a great snack before hot dogs were served.

Of course, Madyson’s birthday hat did not really match the “carnival” theme, but it definitely related to her personality…

Huge lollipops were a must.  Anna got these cool red buckets…we filled them with bright blue sand and stuck 3 lollipops in each of them.  Then we placed all the buckets strategically around the yard so all the kids could find them.  I made more of the special name labels and attached to each lollipop to make sure no kid got left out.  In this photo, you can see where the rain drops have already hit the sand.

Just because I love photos, I had to include something “fun” for the kids.  I drew this clown on a 5 ft piece of paper and attached to cardboard.  We had each kid take a photo, we did both smiley faces and SILLY faces.  This is Madyson’s smiley face pic.

The duck pond was a big hit.  We marked special ducks as winners and let kids pick them for prizes…of course every kid won!

This game was so much fun to watch.  The kids put the plastic eggs on the spoons and then had to race without letting the eggs fall off.  They all did amazing, but after many races they were just holding the eggs & spoons and running.  I think little kids just like any game that encourages them to run.

Bowling was a favorite of all the kids.  The only drawback was us having to repeatedly set up the pins.

There was also tic tac toe and a bean bag toss…

Horseshoes…even the parents played a couple rounds.

Cotton Candy…WOOOOOO hooooooo!  And yes, more of my “special name labels”.

Plates, napkins, tablecloths & balloons were all coordinated with red, yellow and blue colors.

YES…a piñata!  Madyson picked out this beautiful unicorn piñata…again, not with the carnival theme, but reflecting her girlie personality and her love for all things unicorn & all things pink.

Even Bailey enjoyed some fun.  She got the piñata stick after the party was over.

Madyson was EXHAUSTED at the end.   Her face was tired from laughing and her mouth was tired from screaming.  I believe she had an AWWWWE-SOME BIRTHDAY CARNIVAL!

Happy #5 Birthday Madyson….luv u bunches.

marlie – part II

February 25, 2010 | kidsportraits

Marlie…she’s my new friend.  I always have a great connection with kids.  I’m not sure why kids love me so much, but they just do.  Maybe it’s because I do “not” have any “human” kids and therefore I still have a ton of PATIENCE with them & still have most of my SANITY…ha…ha.  (Although my 4 legged – 8lb child often makes me question my sanity…LOL.)  Anyways, kids usually like hangin’ out with me…probably because I’m cool, or as I like to say “I’m kewl”…ha.ha.  No matter why they like me, I love it because it makes photographing them so easy.  With Marlie, it was easy & fun.  We instantly hit things off and had a blast walking around the park & just talking, like two friends.  Marlie is very much into the arts, which I love…so I asked her to bring anything that makes her happy and smile.  Here are some of my favorites from the second part of our shoot.  Any time I’m asked to photograph for headshots or portrait shots, I ALWAYS ask for extra time.  I encourage my clients to allow for some time so that I can get some candid images that are fun & fresh.

For those wondering….YES, FUN is mandatory on my photo shoots.  =:)

Marlie LOVES reading and I think that is an important part of her personality.  Capturing this was important to me.  When I asked her to kick back with her books for a few random photos, she immediately jumped at the opportunity.  I snapped away and when I was done, I called for her.  She looked straight up at me, smiled and said “I was really reading my book” and she laughed.  Of course, I laughed too.  I loved that she felt that comfortable hanging out with me on her photo shoot.

A quick change of wardrobe for some last shots.  I love Marlie’s BLUE eyes!  I could photograph her eyes all day.

Another favorite…

Marlie…thank you for being so AWESOME on our shoot.  You are going to do great things.  Keep reaching for those stars and keep dreaming big.  xoxo.
