So it is that time of year again when people are scrambling to buy the “perfect” Christmas gifts. I get questions from friends, family & clients wanting advice about point and shoot cameras. Well, I am certainly not an expert, but I do admit that I tend to overly research stuff on the internet. Recently my sister and I decided we needed to upgrade our current point & shoot cameras. I think I’ve had my old one for over 7 years and it has seen more than its share of memories. It has definitely performed over and beyond anything I could have expected out of it. It is still clicking away without problem, but it is just a little outdated. The resolution on it is really low compared to what is available now. In my quest to find a new point and shoot camera, I found several amazing ones to choose from. My final decision was the Canon Powershot SD890 IS Digital ELPH.

After throughly researching online I had narrowed it down to two cameras, the SD790 & the SD890. The Canon Powershot SD790 IS was a very close second, I really loved the 3.0-inch display it had. After much comparison however, I felt like the 2.5-inch display of the Canon Powershot SD890 IS was more than sufficient. I am very, very happy with the 2.5-inch PureColor LCD II screen on the 890IS…

Two of the largest selling points for me was the 10.0 mega pixels and the 5.0X Optical Zoom. The Canon Powershot SD890 IS has the most powerful zoom in the ELPH line, where as the 790IS only had a 3.0X Optical Zoom. For me, I felt like the 5.0X Optical Zoom was more important than the larger display. So again, I am very happy with my decision to go with the SD890.

Also (and this is probably just a “girl” thing)…but I LOVE the sleek, slim and attractive design of the Canon Powershot SD890 IS. It is small and compact enough for your purse, even a small purse. 😉
