It’s April 22nd and today is EARTH DAY…we are the Green Generation people. What a wonderful day! Wikipedia describes EARTH DAY as “a day designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s environment”. Although I think EVERY DAY should be EARTH DAY, at least having one day to make people more aware is nice too. Currently, we do not have a recycling program on the islands (a petition is circulating though)…but we do recycle at our house…glass, plastic, paper, cardboard, etc. etc. I could write paragraphs of reasons, but I think most people are becoming more earth-friendly every day. 🙂

However, I would like to share something really cool with you all. Reusable bags. QUIT getting those plastic bags when you go grocery shopping or even to the local Target, Walgreens or wherever you may shop. BUY REUSABLE BAGS! BUY REUSABLE BAGS! Just to get you excited, I wanted to show of the cool bags we have. My friend Rachelle shared her secret love of these bags with me. Thanks girl, I’m hooked now…I mean I really have a serious addiction to them. Also, thanks to my friend Leonard, I have about 4 dozen of these from Trader Joe’s. I LOVE…LOVE…LOVE these bags. We do not have a Trader Joe’s locally, so he buys them periodically and mails them to me. These are the best! They are like Super Bags! I have a lot of different reusable bags from a lot of different stores, but the Trader Joe’s are my MOST FAVORITE. They’re made from Polypropylene, so they do not tear like the light weight cloth bags, although cloth bags are nice too. But I just really love these and you can wipe them off easily, if you spill in them. I use them for trips to the market, grocery store, retail stores…everywhere I shop. I keep them in my car, my sister’s car and a tub of them by the door to the garage. They are always handy for us.

Let’s all respect our planet a little more…RECYCLE | REDUCE | REUSE.

You gotta LOVE the FUN colors and cool designs, which are changed periodically. I constantly have people stop me and ask where I got them. I’ve even had people offer to buy them off me…ha.ha. They’re awesome and I feel like skipping when I tote them into a store. 🙂 Yes, I get a happy feeling inside when I use them. Also, it’s good to know that I am contributing a little something by not using the plastic bags that are just bad for our environment. 🙂
