In order to keep myself “in check” and “on track”…I write things down. I write constantly during the day. I write on sticky notes, memo pads, note pads, legal pads and sometimes I grab a sheet of paper from the printer. If I am running errands I’m making notations at the stop lights or keying reminders into my phone. If I am on a shoot, I’m thinking of stuff I need to put on paper when I’m done. Seriously, I write constantly and keep a running “to-do” list. Writing things down serves as a reminder for me. I am not sure if I need this because I am forgetful or because with my “artistic” personality I am easily distracted…lol. Either way, it keeps me focused. I also blame my high-energy level, which always has me thinking of something else I need to do. I love this characteristic about myself though. The more I think of doing, the more I want to accomplish and this keeps pushing me to reach my goals. Sometimes, I have about 10 projects going on at once, I like to call this “multi-tasking” not being unorganized…ha.ha.
My sister recently bought me a small journal that I can put in my purse or keep on my desk. It is really cool with these cute little paw prints all over the front. She got it from The Animal Rescue Site, which I blogged about back in March (click here to view post). It is a “Cruelty Free Embossed Paw Leather Journal” and it comes in two sizes. In case the writing is too small to read in the photo below, here is the information about this product. It has Eco Friendly Papers that are “Tree Free” papers made by recycling cotton rags. The leather used is cruelty- free, acquired from naturally dead animals. Also, the inside journal pages are removable and replaceable. This product has been hand-crafted by artisans in India, whose goal is to preserve human art and respect the environment.
To keep myself “on track” for 2009, I will be making a list of goals today. A list of things I want to accomplish for the year. Some goals may be more attainable than others, but all of my goals will push me beyond the norm. Thus it will take a lot of hard work on my part, a lot of positive energy and a determination not to fail. I think by setting my goals high for this year, I will succeed simply from my fear of failure. Also, I’ve decided to combined my “personal” goals and my “professional” goals since these two areas of my life overlap in such a huge way. Building my business and obtaining the respect of my fellow photographers will be two my top goals.
I’m not sure what my list will consist of in the end or even how many goals I will make…but I do know that by putting them in this journal, it will make it more of a reality for me. Then I will be able to reflect back to the list during the year and see if I am reaching those stars I’ve dreamed about.
Good Luck to each of you in 2009! Think about making yourself a list of goals…

Awesome post! I am so like that…I have to have a journal or posty note or something to reminded me of what I need to do! Sometimes, I feel like my day is filled with “To do’s”…well, maybe we should look at is as “Ta Da’s” instead! 🙂
Cool journal. But I have to think you’ve already accomplished your second goal – your work is fantastic, surely your fellow photographers already respect you for that.
I so need that……..toooo cute!
What a great idea i think we all could use one of these…
This is awesome, I like you even more now for buying cruelty-free products. Now I am going to go write this journal info on a list…and hope that my husband sees it before valentine’s day! haha
