UGA VII

“Loran’s Best” was officially inducted today as “UGA VII” at Sanford Stadium during pre-game ceremonies of the season opener for the Georgia Bulldogs against Georgia Southern Eagles. He was escorted to the field by members of the Frank W. “Sonny” Seiler family of Savannah, Ga. He is the seventh in the line of Georgia mascots owned by the Seilers and succeeds his beloved father, UGA VI, who passed away in June ’08. At 56 1/2 lbs he’ll be the second largest mascot…his father, UGA VI was the largest so far.

UGA VII’s coronation became official when UGA President Dr. Michael F. Adams slipped a new red leather spike collar over his head. All the DAWG fans were excited to greet him today. He was originally named “Loran’s Best” for long-time Georgia Athletic Association personality, Loran Smith. You will often hear the “one & only…the greatest…and the most famous sports announcer”, Larry Munson confer with Loran Smith during games. Larry Munson has been the voice of the Georgia Bulldogs for over 40 years!

Also, In respect to UGA VI, I have a previous blog post you can check out.
He will never be forgotten….

And for those of you who are DAWG fans…Look at this frame we picked up yesterday at PetSmart. It is so cool with the red & black and can definitely pass for a Bulldog frame.

Have a blessed day~cass
