Whitney | Senior Shoot | Part Three

We finished Whitney’s Senior Session at one of my most favorites places, the beach. I love the beach for so many reasons and I love shooting at the beach for many of the same reasons. Not only because of the amazingly beautiful backdrop of the ocean, but also because of the sense of calm and peace it provides. Most people are naturally relaxed at the beach and therefore they are more comfortable with me & my camera. I love the positive energy the fresh salt air brings to me. My clients seem to be happy as well.

Photographing Whitney was so much fun for me and I was so excited to get creative with her. Although, I always try to keep all my images natural and candid, I did ask Whitney to give me some serious looks for variety. She was always smiling and laughing, so seeing a more serious side was interesting and intriguing.

These are some of my favorites. The cattails in the background added just that small touch of color I desired.

WOW…When Whitney and I discussed her wardrobe, I made a few suggestions, however I explained that I wanted her to be comfortable in whatever she decided. I had given her a few ideas and told her sundresses are always a nice choice for the beach. She could not have picked a more perfect outfit. It was fun, flirty and gave off that fresh look I love.

The palms on this walkway made for another great backdrop.

I loved photographing by the cattails. This photo was a favorite.

Whitney has the most infectious laugh. Some of my photos were blurred because I was laughing too. But these are the photos I love to capture, I think this truly shows Whitney’s personality.

Ahhhhhh, what fun we are having…ha.ha.

Even with her hair covering her eye, I still love this photo of Whitney. It was another favorite of mine…Introducing “America’s Next Top Model”.

Although, I have sooooo many favorite photos from Whitney’s shoot…THIS is definitely my MOST FAVORITE PHOTO OF THE DAY! There is just something about this image that speaks to me. It reminds me of an ad that you would find in a fashion magazine. And yes, I did purposely compose my subject, Whitney, a little to the right. I love to off-center my subjects and use the negative space for a more dramatic effect.

This is another candid shot, showing Whitney’s smile and personality. I was so happy that she felt completely comfortable to be herself throughout our shoot. It made my job easier.

I couldn’t resist adding a little photoshop effect to the next two pics. It was that beachy…summery…sunny…fun kind of day. I think these photos give me that feeling.

With my favorite lens, the 85mm 1.2, I was able to shoot until the sun went completely down. Although it was looking a little dark out, I was still able get a FANTASTIC FINALE of images. To give you an idea, these last photos (plus a few more not shown) were all taken about 15 minutes before we all left the beach…in our cars, with our headlights on. It was that dark already, but I am glad I got these last shots…sweeeeeeet!

Even though this image has the blur factor & was shot with only a little day light left, I love the feel it gives off . Looking at this image, I can feel the motion as she is turning. This is another photo that moves me emotionally and that is what I strive for.

For the last photo, I choose this one to share. The wind was blowing, it was getting dark and Whitney was still smiling. My favorite part of this image is how her hair falls along her face. It appeals to me because it is one of the more dramatic looks.

Whitney, Thank you again for trusting my creative ideas and trusting me completely with your shoot. You are a beautiful person, inside and out…and I think that is very important. You have a smile that enchants people, a smile that cheers people and a smile that simply comforts people…NEVER STOP SMILING. Whitney, I wish you the very best in your senior year…make wise decisions and always remember that this year is only the beginning to another chapter in your wonderful life.

Have a blessed day~cass
